- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast or rapid rise yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg for egg wash
- 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
- 4 ounces shredded Asiago cheese
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water with granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
Add all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Fold in the shredded Asiago cheese.
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape into balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together egg and milk for the egg wash. Brush the tops of the rolls with the mixture.
Allow the rolls to rise in a warm place for about 10 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Wrap rolls individually and freeze for up to 3 months.
- Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
