Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Brush or Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage Choose a firm, green head for the best results.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil Both options work beautifully.
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning Adds a unique flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder For each cabbage steak piece.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds robust flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Introduces subtle smokiness.
  • 2 tablespoons shredded parmesan Very finely for umami flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley For garnish.

Instructions

  • Start by removing any damaged outer leaves from the cabbage. Rinse it under cold water and pat it dry. Slice it into thick steaks, about 1-inch thick.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter (or olive oil), Old Bay seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Coat each cabbage steak with this mixture.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned cabbage steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry the cabbage steaks for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and tender.
  • In the last two minutes of cooking, sprinkle the finely shredded parmesan on top of the steaks.
  • Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with dried parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Experiment with different seasonings to suit your taste.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
