- 1 cup cooked chickpeas drained and rinsed
- 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt plus more to taste
- Garlic powder, paprika, or spice of choice (optional)
Begin by draining and rinsing 1 cup of cooked chickpeas. If you’re using canned chickpeas, make sure to rinse them under cold water.
Pat the chickpeas dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel to achieve that crispy texture.
In a mixing bowl, combine the dried chickpeas with 2 teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Add spices if desired, and toss until evenly coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Air fry the chickpeas for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking. Watch them towards the end to prevent burning.
Once golden brown and crispy, remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before enjoying.
- For extra crunch, consider double frying the chickpeas.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for best results.
- Experiment with different seasoning blends to find your favorite.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, but they are best fresh!
