  • 60 ml hot water at 80°C (175°F), not boiling
  • 180 ml almond milk unsweetened, high-fat, warmed to 65°C (150°F)

Instructions
 

  • Start by sifting 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a teapot or heat-resistant bowl. This prevents clumps and ensures a smooth consistency.
  • Pour 60 ml of hot water (at 80°C or 175°F) into the bowl with the matcha. It’s crucial that the water is not boiling, as this can scorch the matcha and alter its flavor.
  • Using a whisk or frother, mix the matcha and water together vigorously. Aim for a frothy consistency with no lumps. This step is key to achieving that beautiful latte texture.
  • In a small saucepan or using a milk frother, warm 180 ml of almond milk to 65°C (150°F). Do not bring it to a boil; you want it hot enough to complement the matcha without losing its flavor.
  • Pour the warm almond milk over the prepared matcha mixture. Use a spoon to gently stir, creating a beautiful blend of colors and flavors.
