Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or Non-Stick Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Serving plates

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf brioche bread thickly sliced
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter for cooking

Instructions

  • Begin by cracking the 5 large eggs into a large mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whisk everything together until well combined and smooth.
  • Take your thickly sliced brioche bread and dunk each slice into the custard mixture. Allow it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side.
  • Place your griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a generous amount of butter. Let it melt and start bubbling.
  • Once the butter is hot, carefully place the soaked brioche slices onto the griddle. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Once cooked, transfer the French toast to serving plates. Top with your favorite accompaniments.

Notes

  • For a vegan option, use flax eggs and coconut milk instead of eggs and heavy cream.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, place slices in a toaster or on a skillet until heated through.
