Equipment

  • Espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker
  • Cocktail shaker or a jar with a tight lid
  • Measuring spoons and cup
  • Glass or tumbler
  • Spoon or small whisk

Ingredients

  • 2 shots espresso freshly brewed
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup milk or dairy alternative almond milk, oat milk, or preferred plant-based milk
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • whipped cream optional, for topping

Instructions

Directions

  • Start by brewing 2 shots of espresso using your preferred method. Freshly brewed espresso is key. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • In your cocktail shaker or jar, add 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Mix to distribute cinnamon evenly.
  • Pour warm espresso over the sugar and cinnamon mixture, then add a generous handful of ice cubes.
  • Seal the shaker or jar tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to dissolve sugar and create froth.
  • Fill serving glass with ice cubes. Pour 1 cup milk or dairy alternative over ice. Strain shaken espresso mixture into glass.
  • Optionally, top with whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed warm espresso to help dissolve the brown sugar quickly and create froth.
  • Shake vigorously but avoid adding too much ice to prevent diluting the flavor.
  • Store shaken espresso mixture (without milk or ice) in fridge up to 24 hours; add ice and milk just before serving.
  • Try adding nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice for a festive twist.
