Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil for searing
  • 1 lb sea scallops fresh and plump
  • ¾ tsp salt to enhance flavor
  • ½ tsp black pepper for subtle heat
  • 3 tbsp Land O Lakes Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt for richness
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 medium lemon juice half for sauce, slice the rest for garnish
  • 1 tbsp parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Start by patting the scallops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  • Carefully place the scallops in the skillet, searing for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden. Flip gently and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Lower heat to medium, add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir gently to coat the scallops.
  • Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the scallops and stir quickly.
  • Remove scallops, garnish with parsley and lemon slices, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure scallops are dry before cooking for a perfect sear.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Use freshly minced garlic for maximum flavor.
  • Adjust garlic and lemon juice amounts to suit your taste.
