Ingredients
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- ½ cup lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 unit zest of 1 lemon
- 1 unit zest of 1 lime
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
Start by measuring out all your ingredients. This will help streamline the process and ensure you have everything ready to go.
In a mixing bowl, add the 2 cups of confectioners' sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir gently to combine.
Pour in the ½ cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and ½ teaspoon of almond extract. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Add in the zest of 1 lemon and 1 lime. This adds a fragrant citrus note that will brighten up your glaze. Stir until the mixture is completely smooth.
If the glaze is too thick, add a bit more lemon juice, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add a little more confectioners' sugar.
Once your glaze is ready, pour or drizzle it over your cooled cake. Use a spatula to spread it evenly if desired. Let it set for a few minutes before slicing.
- Make the glaze a day ahead and store it in the refrigerator.
- Let it come to room temperature and stir well before using.
- Freeze the glaze for up to a month; thaw in the fridge and re-whisk before use.
