Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Storage container

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup caramel sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt optional

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients by ensuring your unsalted butter is softened to room temperature.
  • Cream the butter in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the caramel sauce and vanilla extract, then mix on medium speed until well combined.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud.
  • Add salt (and sea salt if desired) to the frosting and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding a tablespoon of milk or cream if too thick, or more powdered sugar if too thin.
  • Taste the frosting and adjust sweetness or saltiness as needed.
  • Use the frosting immediately to decorate cakes or store it in the fridge for later use.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother texture.
  • High-quality caramel sauce enhances the flavor.
  • Taste as you go to adjust sweetness and saltiness.
