Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons cinnamon (reduce to taste if sensitive)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 6 ounces cream cheese softened (lite okay)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Cinnamon for garnishing

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your bars will bake evenly.
  • Step 2: Prepare Your Baking Dish - Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the bars later.
  • Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Use a whisk or electric mixer to blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Step 4: Combine Dry Ingredients - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay!
  • Step 5: Bake the Bars - Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Step 6: Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting - While the bars are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, softened butter, confectioners sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  • Step 7: Frost the Bars - Once the cinnamon roll bars are out of the oven and cooled slightly, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. For an added touch, sprinkle some cinnamon on top for garnishing.
  • Step 8: Cut and Serve - Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve them up warm or at room temperature and watch them disappear!

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the batter; it should be just combined for fluffy bars.
  • Make sure your oven is properly preheated to avoid uneven baking.
  • Let the bars cool before frosting to prevent melting the cream cheese frosting.
