Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Aluminum foil or lid
  • Oven mitts

Ingredients

  • 1 package cinnamon rolls with icing included
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans optional
  • turkey bacon optional, for serving
  • powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking. Slice each cinnamon roll into quarters.
  • Place the quartered cinnamon rolls evenly in the prepared baking dish. If using pecans, sprinkle them over the top now.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together 6 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 cup maple syrup until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls in the baking dish. Gently press down on the cinnamon rolls to help them soak up the custard.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil or a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight to help the cinnamon rolls absorb the custard.
  • Remove the dish from the fridge and bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. Drizzle the included icing over the bake once it’s out of the oven if desired.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with turkey bacon on the side if desired. Drizzle extra maple syrup over each slice for added sweetness.

Notes

  • Chilling the bake before cooking is key for a custardy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  • Use fresh cinnamon rolls for best soaking and flavor results.
  • Customize with pecans for crunch or serve with turkey bacon for a savory balance.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat gently to maintain texture.
  • Try low-carb substitutions like almond flour bread and dairy-free milk for a keto-friendly version.
