Ingredients
- 2 pounds cabbage chopped fine
- 1/4 pound carrots chopped
- 2 tablespoons white onion chopped fine
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt or celery salt (omit celery seed if using celery salt)
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
Instructions
Start by finely chopping the cabbage and carrots. You want them to be small enough to mix well but still retain some crunch. The white onion should also be chopped finely to blend seamlessly into the slaw.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, white distilled vinegar, sugar, salt (or celery salt), and celery seed. Whisk everything together until it’s smooth and well blended.
In your large mixing bowl, add the chopped cabbage, carrots, and onion. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss everything together until all the ingredients are evenly coated.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least an hour. This allows the flavors to meld together and gives the coleslaw a crisp, refreshing taste.
Give the coleslaw a good stir before serving. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Enjoy your homemade Copycat Captain Ds Coleslaw with your favorite seafood dishes!
