Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan or Deep Fryer
  • Spoon or small cookie scoop
  • Slotted Spoon
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 cube Kraft Philadelphia Regular Cream Cheese at room temperature
  • 2 oz. crab meat or imitation crab meat, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 20 count wonton wrappers
  • Oil for deep frying, neutral oil like vegetable or canola

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Start by taking your room temperature Kraft Philadelphia Regular Cream Cheese and placing it in a mixing bowl. Add the finely diced crab meat (or imitation crab), 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together until it's well combined and smooth.
  • Lay out your wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water using your fingers. Fold the wrapper over to create a triangle shape, sealing the edges tightly to prevent any filling from leaking out while frying.
  • In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat enough oil for deep frying to about 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping in a small piece of wonton wrapper; it should sizzle and float to the surface.
  • Carefully drop a few sealed wontons into the hot oil at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the Crab Rangoon for about 3-4 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Once your Crab Rangoon are fried to perfection, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce are great options to complement the flavors!

Notes

  • Ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Don’t overfill your wonton wrappers; too much filling will make them difficult to seal.
  • Keep an eye on the oil temperature to prevent burning or excessive greasiness.
