Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup diced cold butter
  • 1 can dulce de leche room temperature

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease your baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  • Add the diced cold butter to the dry mixture and cut it in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Reserve about 1 1/2 cups of the crust mixture for the topping.
  • Press the remaining crust mixture firmly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  • Spread the dulce de leche over the crust evenly.
  • Sprinkle the reserved crust mixture evenly over the dulce de leche layer.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool in the dish for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares or bars.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Substitute coconut sugar for a caramel-like flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
