Whisk
- 1.5 pounds flank steak (sirloin steak also works)
- 4 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil (divided)
- 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil (remaining)
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- to taste Toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 0.5 cup mayo
- 2 large limes
- 3 teaspoons hot chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
Method
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, chili sauce, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, minced garlic, and granulated sugar.
Place your flank steak in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it's well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. For more intense flavor, marinate for up to 2 hours.
Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil to the pan.
Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Place the steak in the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.
Once cooked, transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the steak into bite-sized pieces, and if desired, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for an added crunch and flavor.
- Marinate the steak for at least 15 minutes for better flavor.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing.
- Allow the steak to rest before slicing to retain juices.
