For the Pie:

  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  • Step 2: Place your unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. If using a store-bought crust, skip this step.
  • Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated white sugar and 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour. Whisk until well blended.
  • Step 4: In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of buttermilk, 3 beaten eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until incorporated.
  • Step 5: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not over-mix.
  • Step 6: Add 1/4 cup of melted salted butter to the mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  • Step 7: Pour the pie filling into the prepared pie crust, smoothing out the top with a spatula.
  • Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Step 9: Allow the pie to cool at room temperature for at least an hour before slicing. Serve plain or with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
  • Don’t skip the cooling time to ensure easier slicing.
  • Experiment with flavorings like lemon juice for a unique twist.
