Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

For the Tuna Salad:

  • 2 cans white tuna (in water, drained and flaked)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 stalk celery (finely chopped)
  • 1 unit green onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sandwiches:

  • 8 slices bread
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 8 slices white cheddar cheese
  • 1 large tomato (sliced, optional)

Instructions

Stepwise Method:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Tuna Salad - In a mixing bowl, combine the drained and flaked tuna with the mayonnaise, lemon juice, chopped celery, green onion, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined, ensuring all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Step 2: Assemble the Sandwiches - Take four slices of bread and spread a generous layer of the tuna salad on each. If you’re using tomato slices, place them on top of the tuna mixture before adding the cheese.
  • Step 3: Add the Cheese - Place a slice of white cheddar cheese on top of the tuna mixture for each sandwich. Top them with the remaining four slices of bread to create a sandwich.
  • Step 4: Butter the Bread - Spread softened butter on the outer sides of each sandwich for a beautiful golden crust.
  • Step 5: Cook the Sandwiches - Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  • Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, cut in half, and serve warm. Enjoy with a side salad or chips!
