Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces halloumi cheese (225 - 250g)
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil for frying
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil for dressing
  • to taste black pepper generous grinds
  • a big pinch red pepper flakes optional

Instructions
 

  • Start by slicing the halloumi cheese into approximately ½-inch thick pieces.
  • Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Carefully place the sliced halloumi into the skillet in a single layer and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once the halloumi is fried, transfer it to a serving plate, drizzle with additional olive oil, and sprinkle generously with black pepper and red pepper flakes.
  • Serve immediately alongside fresh salads, grilled vegetables, or as part of a mezze platter.

Notes

  • Leftover fried halloumi can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best results.
  • For a healthier option, bake halloumi at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
