- 8 ounces halloumi cheese (225 - 250g)
- 1.5 tablespoons olive oil for frying
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil for dressing
- to taste black pepper generous grinds
- a big pinch red pepper flakes optional
Start by slicing the halloumi cheese into approximately ½-inch thick pieces.
Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Carefully place the sliced halloumi into the skillet in a single layer and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Once the halloumi is fried, transfer it to a serving plate, drizzle with additional olive oil, and sprinkle generously with black pepper and red pepper flakes.
Serve immediately alongside fresh salads, grilled vegetables, or as part of a mezze platter.
- Leftover fried halloumi can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best results.
- For a healthier option, bake halloumi at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
