  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter providing richness
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour to thicken the sauce
  • 4-6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning enhances the flavor
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder adds depth
  • 3 cups chicken broth forms the body of the sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream for creamy texture
  • 1 ½ cups grated parmesan cheese providing cheesy goodness
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until it bubbles gently without browning.
  • Whisk in the flour and stir continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture turns a light golden color.
  • Add the minced garlic to the roux, stirring for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the Italian seasoning and onion powder, mixing well.
  • Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring no lumps remain, and continue to stir until smooth.
  • Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream, stirring until fully combined.
  • Slowly add the grated parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and the sauce is creamy.
  • Serve the sauce over pasta, chicken, or vegetables, and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use olive oil instead of butter for a lighter option.
  • For a vegetarian version, swap chicken broth with vegetable broth.
