Equipment

  • Instant Pot

Ingredients

Rice

  • 2 cups Basmati rice or any white long grain rice
  • 2.5 cups Water enough to cover the rice by ½ inch
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable oil to keep grains separate

Instructions

  • Start by rinsing the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Let it drain for a couple of minutes.
  • Transfer the rinsed rice to the Instant Pot. Add enough water to cover the rice by about ½ inch, then add salt and vegetable oil.
  • Secure the lid of the Instant Pot, ensuring the vent is in the “Sealing” position. Select the rice setting or manual pressure cook on high for 4-6 minutes.
  • Once cooking is complete, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for about 10 minutes, then switch the vent to “Venting” to release any remaining pressure.
  • Open the Instant Pot carefully and fluff the rice gently with a fork to separate the grains. Serve alongside your favorite dishes!

Notes

For added flavor, substitute some of the water with broth. You can also add spices or vegetables for variations.
