Jalao (Honey and Coconut Balls)

These Jalao balls are a tropical delight! With honey and coconut, they make an irresistible treat for any occasion.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for greasing the tray and hands
  • 2 cups freshly grated coconut flakes
  • 2 cups honey dark honey recommended
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated ginger

Instructions
 

  • Start by greasing a tray with the vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the freshly grated coconut flakes, honey, and finely grated ginger. Stir well until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • With your hands greased in vegetable oil, take a small amount of the mixture and roll it into a ball about the size of a golf ball.
  • Place the shaped balls onto the greased tray, leaving space between each ball.
  • Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to allow the Jalao to firm up. Serve them chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Experiment with adding chopped dried fruits for extra texture.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Freeze for up to three months between parchment paper.
