How To Make Strawberry Basil Iced Tea
Start by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and steep the 2 black tea bags in the hot water for about 5 minutes to create a strong, flavorful base. Avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.
While the tea is steeping, rinse and hull the strawberries, then slice them thinly. Gently bruise the basil leaves by clapping them between your hands to release their aroma and flavor.
Remove the tea bags and pour the brewed tea into a large pitcher. Add the sliced strawberries, basil leaves, and honey or sweetener to the warm tea. Stir well to dissolve the honey completely.
Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to develop. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with extra fresh strawberries and basil leaves.
- Use fresh strawberries for best flavor and texture; frozen ones can dilute the drink.
- Adjust sweetness by using your preferred sweetener or reducing honey.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge up to 24 hours; add ice only before serving to avoid dilution.
