For the Sandwich:
- 2 slices Crusty sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons Pesto fresh or store-bought
- 2 slices Sargento provolone cheese
- 1.5 tablespoons Butter
Instructions
Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop.
Spread ¾ tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread 2 tablespoons of pesto. Layer the two slices of provolone cheese on top of the pesto, then place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
Place your skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up for a minute.
Carefully place your sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
Using your spatula, gently flip the sandwich over and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half.
- Don’t rush the cooking process; medium heat allows the cheese to melt perfectly.
- Be generous with the pesto, but avoid overdoing it to keep the sandwich from becoming soggy.
- If adding extra ingredients like tomatoes, make sure they are dry to prevent sogginess.
