Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich:

  • 2 slices Crusty sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons Pesto fresh or store-bought
  • 2 slices Sargento provolone cheese
  • 1.5 tablespoons Butter

  • Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop.
  • Spread ¾ tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread 2 tablespoons of pesto. Layer the two slices of provolone cheese on top of the pesto, then place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
  • Place your skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up for a minute.
  • Carefully place your sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  • Using your spatula, gently flip the sandwich over and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half.

Notes

  • Don’t rush the cooking process; medium heat allows the cheese to melt perfectly.
  • Be generous with the pesto, but avoid overdoing it to keep the sandwich from becoming soggy.
  • If adding extra ingredients like tomatoes, make sure they are dry to prevent sogginess.
