Instructions
 

Prepare the Turkey Patties

  • Place 1 pound of ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste (about ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper). Gently mix until just combined without overworking the meat.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.

Make the Avocado Mayo

  • Mash the ripe avocado in a small bowl until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Stir until creamy and well combined. Adjust lime juice or mayo to taste. Store in refrigerator up to 24 hours if needed.

Cook the Turkey Burgers

  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the surface. Cook the turkey patties for 5-6 minutes on the first side without moving. Flip and cook another 5-6 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Avoid pressing the patties while cooking to keep them juicy.

Assemble the Burgers

  • Toast the whole wheat buns lightly. Spread avocado mayo on the bottom bun. Add lettuce, a turkey patty, tomato slices, and sliced red onion. Top with the bun and serve immediately.
