2tablespoonswateruse as needed to bind the mixture
1tablespoonvegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Step 1: Start by grating the sweet potato and carrots into a large bowl. Slice your onion thinly, mince the garlic, and grate the fresh ginger.
Step 2: Add the grated sweet potato, carrots, sliced onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chili into the bowl. Toss everything together until they’re evenly mixed.
Step 3: Add in the chopped cilantro, ground turmeric, ground cumin, chili powder, ground coriander, and sea salt. Squeeze the juice of one lime into the mixture and combine thoroughly.
Step 4: Sprinkle in the gram flour (chickpea flour) to help bind the mixture. If too wet, add water one tablespoon at a time until the mixture holds together.
Step 5: Shape portions of the mixture into patties, making about 4-6 depending on size.
Step 6: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Step 7: Remove the patties from the pan and let them drain on a paper towel. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For extra kick, add more green chilies or cayenne pepper. Ensure oil is hot enough for frying. To make gluten-free, use certified gluten-free chickpea flour.
